The Clay Soper Memorial Weekend Championship (CSMWC) event honors Clay Soper, a former WVBBTS "weekend racer." Clay began skiing as a young child and went on to race competitively in high school. As a weekend racer, he was dedicated and committed to maximizing his limited training time. As racers age, the competitive ski world slowly separates between weekend and academy racers, especially as racers reach the FIS level. The CSMWC highlights the "weekend racers'" commitment to the sport and draws the whole ski world together. Collegiate athletes, full-time academy athletes, and weekend racers come together to compete, have fun, and share their love of the sport. Along with the overall winners, a special Weekend Champion award is given to the top (M/W) weekend racer. This is the mission of the Clay Soper Memorial Weekend Championship and what makes it a special event every year.

CLAY SOPER MEMORIAL WEEKEND CHAMPIONSHIP
MORE THAN JUST A POINTS RACE
On St. Patty's Day we held the 9th Annual Clay Soper Memorial Weekend Championship. We saw rain, sleet, snow, hail and bright blue skies! But, a little weather didn't stop the fun. Athletes from Division 1, weekend racers, ski clubs, and college racers came together to celebrate their personal best. This year's slalom race, as in years past, was about skiing fast, sharing laughs, and coming together for the love of ski racing.
